Help and bugs
Getting help
- This handbook describes the current release, the release notes tell what changed.
- The tools explain themselves:
spk-add --help,trame network --help,tazinst help. - Maille, the SliTaz forum,
is the place to ask questions. Say which image and architecture
you use and attach the output of
trame system report. Share long logs on paste.slitaz.org and post the link. - The community wiki holds many guides written over the years; check which release a page was written for.
Joining the forum
A Maille account is a nickname and a password; a mail address is optional and stays private. At sign-up the forum shows a recovery code once: keep it, it gives your account back if you forget the password (a moderator can also help). Sign-up asks a small question about SliTaz, and the first posts of a new account wait for a moderator. Each thread has one to three tags, including its language.
During spam waves sign-up needs an invitation code: ask for one on the
SliTaz Signal group (see the support
page) or by mail to slitazdevs@protonmail.com.
Reporting a bug
Filature report sends a bug report in two clicks: open Report a bug from the dock or the Dash, describe what went wrong and send. The report includes a short description of the system, with no personal data, and you can read it before sending. In text mode:
$ filature-report
When a system is damaged, reprise --send sends its
diagnosis the same way. Once accepted by a developer, a report becomes a
public bug on filature.slitaz.org,
where you can follow it.
To test a development image systematically, TazHelper
(on the dock, tazhelper in text mode) runs automatic
checks, guides you through a checklist and sends an anonymous test
report. Test images are published on
lab.slitaz.org.
Contributing
SliTaz is made by volunteers and every hand is welcome: testing, packaging, code, translations and documentation. The source code of everything, including this handbook, is in the Mercurial repositories (TazTerm and TazLab on GitHub), the packages are built on cook.slitaz.org. The developer pages explain how to get started. Introduce yourself on the forum. To improve this handbook, send a patch against the slitaz-doc repository or report what is wrong or missing.
